Mundane Ways

Mundane Ways - R&R Ramblings

‘It’s the perfect gift for that person who has everything.’

‘What is it?’

‘It’s a life clock with camouflaging wristband to suit all wardrobes that counts down the days left in your life. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee the watch for a lifetime.’

‘Why not? Will the battery run out?’

‘No, fate steps in occasionally with accidental deaths,’ he said with air quotes.

‘You can’t predict a lifespan.’

‘Sure, it’s just science you know.’

‘But this is a life clock.’

‘To beat the mundane days and to help you make better life choices for your future.’

‘I’ll take two.’

(100 words)

Side note ~ apparently some scientists have created a life-clock for real!

Would you buy one?

I’m Sorry

I'm Sorry - R&R Ramblings

‘I’m so sorry,’ Bob whimpered, as tears trickled down his cheeks. ‘I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you. I’m sorry I always gave you the smallest serve of the meals. I’m sorry I gave you hottest beer first. I’m sorry I put the chilli in your toothpaste, on the toilet seat, and on the rim of your beer glass. Sorry, I diluted your rum with tea when I pinched your stash. Continue reading “I’m Sorry”

Caterwauling

Caterwauling - R&R Ramblings

Delineate

Delineate- R&R Ramblings

‘His nose was regal, no—hornish, no—bugle like. And it had all these blues lines spreading out across the bridge like a city’s streetscape at night.’

‘Ah, huh. Eyes?’

‘Oh, the eyes. Like the cobalt blue of a winter sky in the Outback, cold, empty and big.’

‘Ya could’ve just said blue. Shape?’

‘What do you mean shape?’

‘Almond, tiered, you know.’

‘No. Do you have a brochure of types to choose from?’ Continue reading “Delineate”

Realistic Illusions

Realistic Illusions- R&R Ramblings

‘The lines, the curves, it so draws the eye. Don’t you think?’ She asked tipping her manicured nail against her chin.

Eyes squinted, head titled, he said, ‘I quite agree. The way the colours blend into a sense of surrealism.’ Continue reading “Realistic Illusions”

Tea & Toast

TEA & TOAST - R&R Ramblings

‘Then he got shot.’

‘Ah huh.’ He nodded and sipped his tea. The cup’s base chinked as it rested on the saucer and was placed upon the kitchen table.

‘It was brutal. All that shouting and screaming. No one deserves to live like that, you know. Can only put up with it for so long, it had to be done. Continue reading “Tea & Toast”

Tribal

Tribal- R&R Ramblings
The flames reflected the war paint smeared across hair and faces which only pronounced the shine in their eyes. The aroma of cooked liver and fried cables mingled with melting plastic that sizzled beneath the flames. The bass bellowed from the stereo competed with heartbeats as adrenaline spiked to the raw heavy metal pounding their ears.
Ripped from a dream, the lights came on, and the sound stopped mid-metallic-scream.
‘What the hell is going on out here?’ The man’s voice echoed across the courtyard. Continue reading “Tribal”

Time

Time - R&R Ramblings

The cold floor beneath her feet was invigorating as she skipped with the taste of freedom coursing through her veins. With one step after the other, her smile grew wider. The scents of sweet fresh air, the view of trees and flowers in the garden were brimming with life and colour. So unlike the flowers she’d watched wither away, and now no longer needed.

She waved to the nurses at the counter. Giggled at the cheeky orderlies who brought Continue reading “Time”
