Sea-Found

I was

sliding over sand

in an upturned seashell

like a lighthouse tossed into the midnight sea,

setting-off my smoke detector that had lost it’s life’s battery long ago

to jumpstart a hibernating heart now strapped on the wide wings of a flying stingray

that carried me blindly to where mermaid tears mixed with octopus ink

to write the sea’s unstolen story of how the rolling bubble burst

when two split souls met between particles of sand

& all you did was say,

“…hello.”

  1. Beautiful imagery Mel – when you head down the prose poem route and combine it with nature there’s always such power to what you write. Would share a ride on an upturned seashell with you any day my friend 🙂
