The cylindrical metal shotgun barrel was cold, invasive, and hard pressed against her forehead. Cross eyes straightened following blue metal lines to the pulled back hammer. A fingertip hovered over the trigger, held by a rock steady arm, and looked into his hardened eyes.
“You sure?” he asked.
A moment of clarity, so pristine, she saw ‘all’ within her universe. An intense vivid illumination within her crystal ball of life and the exhilaration made her laugh. With beaming smile and shiny eyes she pushed, indenting skin against the barrel and said, “yes”.
Nothing to lose – except sickening chemical pain-management ahead.
